Mirrors  

Metallic mirror coatings are often used in optical systems where very boardband reflection is needed. They are usually overcoated with dielectric film to protect and improve the abrasion resistance and reflection.  The mirror could be made from glass or plastic and the coatings from Aluminium, Silver or Gold.  The choice of material will depend on the wavelength of interest.  The coated area could be either on the front or back surface of the mirror.

There are some special mirrors, which reflect certain wavelength of light, whilst certain wavelength of light is transmitted.  One such example is cold mirror used in surgical lamps. Extended Hot mirror This extended hot mirror coating can meet the following specifications: Tave >= 85% from 420nm to 700nm Tave < 5% from 770nm to 1150nm Tave < 15% from 1200nm to 1500nm at AOI = 0º		Cold mirror This cold mirror coating can meet the following specifications: Rave >= 90% at 420nm to 650nm Tave >= 90% at 750nm to 1200nm
